Eastern Europe:
The Mongols were very tough and did things that seemed impossible to some people. They rode their horses distances that seemed undo-able. Genghis Khan, or Temujin, was known to be a strong, and powerful leader. He started to form alliances with the Mongols, and at a tribal leader meeting, he was appointed as the khan, or leader of the Mongols. The Mongols could ride their horses for almost two days at a time! They could even sleep on their horses, and ate dried meat so they didn't have to stop to cook. They usually went around and sacked and looted cities. Genghis Khan used fear as his greatest weapon, he let the people know that if they left their gates open, then they would be spared, but the opposite for those who didn't. After Genghis Khan died, his Empire was split into sections. The Mongols overtook Baghdad, and destroyed its mosques, palaces, and killed its inhabitants. Kublai Khan became the next leader of the Mongols, he extended the Grand Canal and adopted Chinese dress and customs. He founded the Yuan, although it was the shortest Dynasty in China. Many natural disasters caused the lower classes much dissatisfaction. Many people invaded while the Yuan Dynasty was experiencing a period of weak leaders, which eventually led to the fall of the Yuan Dynasty.
